Physical
Therapy
The physical therapy program starts with a referral
from a patient's physician. The patient is then
evaluated by a physical therapist and a plan of
treatment is established. Depending on the needs
of the patient, a treatment program of twice a week,
three times a week or daily will be implemented.
The therapist will begin
by immediately treating the affected area of the
body. Gradually, the therapist will begin to teach
the patient how to take care of himself by teaching
him the proper exercises to build strength and endurance.
Most importantly, the therapist will help the patient
try to prevent a recurring injury.
Therapists
can help patients by:
* advising on
proper posture and body motion in the work place.
* treating injuries.
* consulting on fitness.
Speech
Therapy
After receiving a referral from a physician, the
patient is evaluated and a plan of treatment is
established. The speech therapists at ETTC can help
with swallowing difficulties and speech disorders.
Children and adults are welcome to participate.
Occupational
Therapy
Once the referral is received, the therapist will
evaluate the patient and create a plan of treatment.
Occupational therapy gives people the "skills
for the job of living" that are needed for
independent and satisfying lives.
Services
may include:
Customized treatment
programs aimed at improving abilities to carry out
the activities of daily living
Comprehensive evaluation of home and job environments
and recommendations on necessary adaptation
Assessments and treatment for performance skills
Recommendations and training in the use of adaptive
equipment
Guidance to family members and caregivers
Social
Services
Often a patient suffers anxiety and depression due
to their illness and its negative impact on their
daily lives. ETTC evaluates patients and their need
for social services. If it is determined that services
are needed, a social worker will work with the patient.
